About the JSON formatter and validator

The TConverter JSON Formatter makes JSON readable again. Paste a compressed, single-line or messy JSON string, click Format, and you get a cleanly indented version with two spaces per level. Click Minify instead and all unnecessary whitespace is removed, giving you the most compact form. Both actions also check that your JSON is valid. The tool is free and requires no sign-up.

Developers, testers and analysts reach for a JSON formatter many times a day: to inspect an API response copied from the browser's network tab, to read a log entry, to tidy up a configuration file before committing it, or to find out why a request body is rejected. Minifying is the opposite need, for example when you want to paste JSON into a single line of a script, an environment variable or a test fixture.

Validation happens automatically. If the input contains a syntax error, such as a missing quote, a trailing comma or an unclosed bracket, no output is produced and the parser's error message is shown under the input, so you can locate and fix the problem. Valid JSON is re-written exactly as parsed, which also normalizes inconsistent spacing and line breaks.

A useful detail of this formatter is that it understands several JSON documents pasted one after another. If you copy a few log lines or API responses that each contain their own object or array, the tool detects each top-level block, formats them separately and places a blank line between them. With Minify, each document is written on its own line, which is the layout used by line-delimited JSON files. If a block in the middle is broken, it is skipped, so check the result when you work with several documents at once.

All processing runs in your browser. Your JSON is not uploaded to a server, which matters when it contains tokens, customer records or internal configuration. When the result is ready, the Copy button puts it on your clipboard in one click. There is no fixed size limit for pasted text; very large documents depend on the memory and speed of your own device.

Frequently asked questions

Does the JSON formatter also validate JSON?

Yes. Formatting and minifying both parse the input first. If the JSON is invalid, no output is generated and the error message from the parser is displayed.

What indentation does the formatter use?

Formatted output uses two spaces per indentation level.

Can I format multiple JSON objects at once?

Yes. If several JSON objects or arrays are pasted one after another, each is detected and formatted separately, with a blank line between them. Minify writes each one on its own line.

Is my JSON sent to a server?

No. Formatting and validation happen in your browser, and nothing is uploaded.

Is the JSON formatter free?

Yes. TConverter is free to use and does not require an account.
