About PDF Merge & Split

The TConverter PDF Merge & Split tool brings two everyday PDF tasks together on one page. With Merge you combine several PDF files into a single document, and with Split you break one PDF apart so that every page becomes its own PDF file. You switch between the two modes with the Merge and Split buttons at the top of the page.

Merging is handy when you need to send one file instead of many: a job application with a CV, cover letter and certificates, a set of scanned invoices for your accountant, chapters of a report written separately, or signed pages returned one by one. After you add files, the tool lists them with their order number, page count and size. You can move each file up or down, remove the ones you do not need, and then merge them. Pages are copied as they are, so text, images and layout remain unchanged, and the result is saved as merged.pdf. You need at least two PDFs to merge.

Splitting is useful when you only need part of a long document, want to send a single page to someone, or have to upload pages separately. When you load a PDF, the tool shows its file name, page count and size, and tells you how many files will be created. Each page is then saved as a separate PDF named after the original file and the page number. Note that the split mode always produces one file per page; it does not extract custom page ranges. Because several files are downloaded one after another, your browser may ask you to allow multiple downloads.

Both modes run entirely in your browser using the pdf-lib library. Your files are never uploaded to a server, which makes the tool safe for contracts, statements and other private documents. Processing speed depends on your device, and very large files need more memory. Files that are damaged or cannot be read will show an error instead of being processed.

PDF Merge & Split is free, works without sign-up, and is available on desktop and mobile browsers.

Frequently asked questions

Is PDF Merge & Split free?

Yes. Merging and splitting PDFs is free and does not require an account.

Are my PDFs uploaded to a server?

No. Both merging and splitting happen in your browser, so your files never leave your device.

Can I change the order of files before merging?

Yes. The File Order list shows each PDF with its page count and size, and you can move files up or down or remove them before merging.

Can I split a PDF into custom page ranges?

Not at the moment. The split mode saves every page as its own PDF file. You can then merge the pages you need back together with the Merge mode.

Why does my browser ask about multiple downloads when splitting?

Splitting downloads one file per page in quick succession. Some browsers ask for permission before allowing several downloads from one page; allow it to receive all pages.

Does merging reduce the quality of my PDFs?

No. Pages are copied into the new document without re-rendering, so text, images and layout stay the same.
