Convert your video to MP4 (H.264 + AAC), the format that plays on every phone, browser and TV.

Converting a video can take a few minutes depending on its length.

About the Video Converter

The TConverter Video Converter turns MOV, WEBM, AVI, MKV, MP4 and M4V videos into MP4 files that play almost anywhere. MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio is the most widely supported video format today: the output plays on all phones, in every browser, on TVs and in video editing apps. Files up to 100 MB are accepted.

This is useful in many situations. Videos recorded on an iPhone are often saved as MOV, which can cause trouble on Windows computers or Android phones; converting them to MP4 solves that. Screen recordings saved as WEBM may not open in some players or editors, and old AVI files from cameras or archives often use codecs that modern devices no longer support. You can also convert an existing MP4 or M4V file to get a standard H.264 version that plays reliably.

The video is encoded with H.264 at CRF 23 using the veryfast preset, a common setting that gives good visual quality at a reasonable file size. The audio is encoded as AAC at 128 kbps. The pixel format is yuv420p, and odd dimensions are rounded to even numbers, because many players and hardware decoders require both for maximum compatibility. The resolution of your video is kept; the converter does not resize it.

The output is written as faststart MP4, which means the information needed for playback sits at the beginning of the file, so the video can start playing before it has fully downloaded. A video without an audio track is converted too and simply stays silent.

Conversion runs on the TConverter server with FFmpeg in a job queue, and it can take a few minutes depending on the length of the video. A progress bar shows the real progress, and the MP4 downloads automatically when it is ready; a Download button is also available. The download keeps the original file name with the .mp4 extension.

Your video is uploaded over an encrypted HTTPS connection. The uploaded file and the converted MP4 are deleted automatically within minutes, and a periodic cleanup removes anything left behind. Files are never shared. The converter is free and needs no sign-up.
