About the note cleaner
Photos of handwritten notes, notebook pages and whiteboards rarely look as clean as the paper itself. Uneven lighting leaves dark corners, your hand or phone casts a shadow, the paper turns grey or yellow, and faint ruled lines compete with the writing. The TConverter note cleaner turns such a photo into a crisp black-and-white image that is easier to read, print, share with classmates or keep in your archive.
The tool uses a technique called adaptive thresholding. It first converts the photo to grayscale, then compares every pixel with the average brightness of the area around it. Pixels that are clearly darker than their surroundings, such as pen and pencil strokes, become black, and everything else becomes white. Because each decision is made locally rather than with one fixed cut-off for the whole image, shadows, gradients and uneven lighting are removed much more effectively than with a simple contrast filter. The size of the neighbourhood is adjusted automatically to the resolution of your photo.
Three cleaning levels let you tune the result. Light keeps fainter strokes such as soft pencil, but may leave a few specks of paper texture. Medium, the default, is a balanced choice for most notes. Heavy removes more background noise, smudges and faint lines, but very light writing may fade along with them. After cleaning, the original and the cleaned version are shown side by side so you can compare them and try another level if needed.
The processing happens entirely in your browser on your own device. Your photos are not uploaded anywhere, which matters when notes contain personal or confidential information. The result is saved as a PNG file at the same resolution as your photo. Keep in mind that the output is strictly black and white, so coloured ink and highlighter marks are converted to black or disappear, and the tool does not crop the page or straighten a photo taken at an angle. For the best results, photograph the page from directly above in even light.

Does it straighten or crop the page?
No. The tool only cleans the image; it does not crop or correct perspective. Taking the photo from directly above gives the best result.
