WebP Converter
Convert WebP images to JPG or PNG, and JPG or PNG images to WebP. Runs entirely in your browser; your files are never uploaded.
About the WebP converter
WebP is a modern image format that many websites use because it produces smaller files than JPG or PNG at similar visual quality. That is great for page speed, but it can be inconvenient when you save an image from a website and then find that an older photo editor, office program or upload form does not accept it. The TConverter WebP converter solves this in both directions: it turns WebP images into JPG or PNG, and it turns JPG or PNG images into WebP when you want lighter files for your own site.
The conversion runs entirely in your browser. Images are decoded and re-encoded on your own device using the browser's built-in image engine, so nothing is uploaded to a server and your files stay private. Because there is no upload step, even a batch of images is usually ready within seconds, depending on their size and your device. You can select several files at once; they are processed one after another, and if a single image cannot be read, the rest of the batch is still converted.
The tool is designed for format changes rather than compression. Output is encoded at a fixed quality of 90 percent so that the result looks the same as the original to the eye, and the image dimensions are left unchanged. If you also want to reduce the file size or scale images down, the TConverter image compressor offers a quality slider and resize options for the same formats.
Choose the target format that suits your purpose. JPG is the most widely supported choice for photos and does not store transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white. PNG keeps transparency and sharp edges, which suits logos, icons and screenshots, but its files are usually larger. WebP keeps transparency as well and is a good fit when you are preparing images for a website. The output is always a still image.
Each image can be up to 25 MB. Converted files keep their original names with the new extension, so a file called holiday.webp becomes holiday.jpg. You can download each file separately or, when more than one image was converted, save them all at once as a ZIP archive. The converter is free and needs no account.
Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. The WebP converter works entirely in your browser, so your images never leave your device.
Can I convert several WebP files at once?
Yes. Select multiple files in the upload area, click Convert, and download the results individually or as a single ZIP archive.
Will converting lose quality?
Output is saved at 90 percent quality and the dimensions stay the same, so in normal viewing the result looks like the original. JPG and WebP are lossy formats, so tiny differences can exist at the pixel level.
Is transparency preserved?
PNG and WebP output keep transparent areas. JPG cannot store transparency, so those areas are filled with white.
What is the file size limit?
Each image can be up to 25 MB.
How can I make the files smaller as well?
This tool only changes the format. To lower the quality setting or resize images, use the TConverter image compressor, which supports JPG, PNG and WebP.
